This XJ-S was used to demonstrate Sony's first in-car CD player on an episode of Tomorrow's World, broadcast on BBC One on 18 October, 1984.

Manual gearbox, as demonstrated when Peter Macann accidentally shifted into reverse at the start of the demonstration.
