90,240 MILES, ON EBAY 05/07, SELLER WRITES:
This car is very special in the world of Jaguars.
It is one of the first XJ-Ss ever made, being #773 LHD, off the line. These early cars, were the epitome of the model, being the fastest,(other than TWR or racing specials), the purest,(no low compression heads,or slower gearboxes),and the RAREST,(most have either been 'lumped' or rotted away).
I am selling this particular car with great reluctance, as it IS so rare, and the newest arrival to my collection.
I have converted the headlights from the USA specification of the 4 headlight system, to the more efficient, and to me, more pleasing, original spec for the rest of the world, single headlamp CIBIE, system.
I have had this car fitted with a set of refurbished KENT alloy wheels, with new or nearly new PIRELLI P5s, which were the tires specifically designed for the XJ-S when the car was first released.
I have also put a new headliner into the car, fixed an exhaust problem, sorted out the horns, and generally recommissioned the car with all fluid changes etc.
I have on order from the UK, a set of top & bottom ball joints, and rear brake pads for the certification test which, will be done as soon as these parts arrive. I order most of my parts from UK suppliers as they are all OEM Jaguar parts, and even with shipping and exchange rate differentials, it is still more economical to do it this way.
This car will be a particularly good candidate for concourse events, for all you show guys and gals,as everything on the car is as it left the factory, in 1976.
Should the winning bidder be from Ontario, then I will sell the car safetied, either way the car will be in full roadworthy condition.
Please look at my other auctions, I am selling these 4 of my cars,to raise funds for travel. Email me for any questions or more pictures.
