36234 miles, on ebay 08/07, seller writes You are viewing my beautiful 1996 Jaguar XJS 2+2 Convertible. I've owned this car for over 4 months, and have just decided to put it up for auction. I was going to keep it and use for my winter car down here in South Florida, since it is too hot to drive a convertible here in the summer. Let me give you all the information I have and know regarding this car and it's history. I purchased the car from Jaguar-Land Rover of Fort Myers, Florida. It was a new Jaguar trade in. The used car manager I purchased the car from gave me this basic history on the car. The car was sold new in Florida on 8/31/96 and was traded in for a new vehicle sometime in September 1998 with around 12,000 miles on it. The car was then sold at auto auction on 10/28/98 with 12,666 miles to a Kentucky dealer. The car was retailed to a Illinois purchaser on 5/11/99. During the time the Illinois owner had the car, there was a fire in the building that held the car. The car was not badly damaged, but the paint and convertible top did get ruined, and the owner of the car insisted that he get reimbursed for the damage to the building and all damaged contents. The insurance company purchased the car as part of that claim and then later sold it at auction with a salvage title. The car was purchased by a New Hampshire Dealer who repaired the car and had a "Rebuilt Title" issued on the car. Since the title issued was rebuilt, the mileage status went to not actual according to New Hampshire DMV, the car at this time showed 21,108 miles which in fact reflected the actual miles on the car. It was sold to a Naples, Florida resident on 02/11/04 and soon after serviced at Jaguar showing 26,220 miles. The car has resided in South Florida since then, and I have owned since 4/4/07. All this information is verifiable through Carfax. Let me describe the condition of the car to you. The paint on the car looks great. The paint is rich, deep and shines brilliantly. You will find a few very tiny stone chips here and there, or maybe a light scratch, but nothing real notable or obvious. There is a little ding on top of the front chrome bumper visible in the pictures, along with a very light spot of corrosion. Basically all the chrome looks great on the car. The convertible top looks new, it has seen very little wear. The power top works great as well, no issues there. It has a brand new set of tires on it as well, and the factory alloy wheels are clean, no corrosion, no pitting, no road rash. Coming inside you'll find the interior very nice and clean. The leather seats are soft and supple. The entire interior looks very nice! The only notable interior flaw I detected was a couple of light scuffs on the passenger side of the dash, see photos. Everything I see on the inside makes me believe the miles are correct on the car. Mechanically, everything seems to work properly. The car runs great, drives great, and handles great. There are no service lights on, and the factory air is blowing cold. All the gauges seem to work properly as well, although sometimes the fuel gauge is a little slow. I've done the lube, oil and filter service, along with some other routine service, spent around $800, and everything appears to be good with the car. The only negative things I could say about it would be this: I think down the road I would install new front struts, and if the car sits for a couple of weeks without starting, it requires a jump, there must be a slight draw on the battery. If you start it every few days, this is not an issue. I am selling this fine Jaguar on eBay at no reserve. I will come with a rebuilt Florida title, and I will be selling it miles exempt. As I said, I had planned on keeping this car as a driver, because I love driving it, but I am restoring a 1969 Buick Electra 225 Convertible and can't keep too many toys. This car is turn-key ready to go! If you have any questions, please feel free to e mail me or call me on my cell at 239.940.9200. Thanks for taking the time to look, and good luck in bidding.................Doug
