Ebay item 11/21/22
www.ebay.com/itm/185665205755
Current bid:
US $6,000, no reserve, 8 bids 6 days left in auction, seller retro-treasure-seeker, 125k miles.

Seller's description:
This is a great running Jag finished in its original rare color of black with tan interior. I have owned this car twice, the first time around 14 years ago I sold it because my growing son could not fit in the backseat anymore and more recently for the last two years. I sold it to a friend who owned it for a decade, and he then sold it back to me a couple of years ago.
Recently I have replaced the steering rack bushings and given the Jag an ignition tune-up which included
spark plugs
ignition wire leads
distributor cap
distributor rotor
The body is in very good condition with no rust but just a few door dings, the biggest being on the driver's side front fender. None of them really detract from the overall feel of the car. The brightwork is still excellent and so is the glass and rubber seals. The air conditioning and heater work well, and the car is very easy and pleasant to drive.
the only issue the car has is if the car has been sitting you will get an initial puff of smoke from the tailpipe due to oil leaking past the valve seals. It does not affect how the car runs and goes away quickly; it just passed its California smog check, so it is not affecting emissions. This could be fixed by replacing the rubber valve seals in the cylinder head if desired.
The interior is largely original and looks very good for its age, when I owned it the first time, I had the headliner replaced and it still looks excellent.
I am selling it as I recently bought an Alloy bodied Jaguar XK and now I have just too many cars. This would make a very practical first classic Jaguar as this 6-cylinder engine and ZF 4 speed automatic transmission are very durable and can go well past 200k miles. This is the revised Facelift model and was far more refined than the original XJ-S as it used less parts to make and relied more on Bosch electrical component's rather than Lucas.

Lot #102089

This 1993 Jaguar XJS coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and is finished in black over Doeskin leather. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, fog lights, 15″ basketweave alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable sport seats, an aftermarket stereo, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The seller purchased the car in November 2022 and has since added approximately 1k of the 127k miles shown. Work since November 2022 is said to have included replacing the AC compressor, distributor cap, rotor, HT leads, spark plugs, suspension bushings, subframe bushings, and brake components. This XJS coupe is now offered at no reserve with the manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Black (PDH) and features fog lights, a Jaguar “leaper” hood ornament, dual exhaust outlets, and a telescoping antenna. The seller notes that damage to the left-front quarter panel was repaired in May 2000. The quarter panels, hood, and trunk lid have been refinished. Imperfections include dings and scratches as well as a crack in the left taillight lens.

The 15″ basketweave alloy wheels are mounted with Venezia Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Seepage is noted from the power steering rack pinion seal. The brake system accumulator and pads were reportedly replaced in December 2022 along with the suspension bushings.

The cabin features heated power-adjustable sport seats upholstered in Doeskin leather. Interior amenities include cruise control, an aftermarket stereo, and automatic climate control. The driver’s seat heating does not work. A Sanden AC compressor was reportedly installed in November 2022.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,700-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 127k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.0-liter inline-six was factory rated at 219 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Work in December 2022 is said to have included replacing the distributor cap, rotor, HT leads, and spark plugs.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission mount and front subframe mounts were reportedly replaced in December 2022. Seepage is noted from the differential input shaft seal.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
