Seller's description:
1989 Jaguar XJS V12 convertible for sale
In October 1989, a man walked into a Wisconsin Jaguar dealer showroom, to trade his Mercedes 560SL for a brand new red XJS convertible. He must have been very pleased with Jaguar’s V12 flagship, having kept the car for 30 years. This was his summer leisure vehicle, used sparingly for trips to the golf course, garage kept and with regular service check ups. Today the car is still in pristine condition, with 46.000 carefully driven miles on the odometer.
We acquired this classic Jaguar XJS V12 convertible from the first owner, together with all manuals, the original dealer purchase order and a file of maintenance records. Still in nearly immaculate condition, the car drives as good as it looks and looks as good as it drives.
Our signal red XJS still wears its factory original paint (code CFC) on most of the body work. The left rear fender has had a respray, presumably from some light damage, that is no longer visible. All of the factory VIN stickers are on the car, indicating that none of the bodywork has ever been replaced. The paintwork has a perfect finish, with only minor traces of use.
On the inside, the Jaguar continues to impress. Having recently benefited from a brand new wood veneer kit, new bottom seat covers, carpets and a convertible top, the interior is in near perfect condition. The automatic convertible top mechanism opens and closes perfectly, and working airconditioning and heated seats add to the luxurious comfort.
Mechanically the car is in well maintained condition. The engine is silent and smooth, with excellent oil pressure and sufficient power. Complete documented service history from new until 21.243 mls, an oil service slip at 41.000 mls (not all service invoices have been kept) and a recent service check up in our workshop at 46.962 mls. We also converted the smog pump setup to european specifications, using an original Jaguar pulley. All 4 brake calipers were rebuilt and we replaced front and rear brake hoses. All 4 tyres were replaced in 2015, at 46.757 mls and the car is ready to be enjoyed.
If you are looking for a collector quality example of Jaguar’s classic V12 drop top XJS, this might be the car for you.
