This 1988 Jaguar XJ-S V12 features a convertible conversion performed by Ohio-based coachbuilder Hess & Eisenhardt, and it is said to have been purchased from the original owner by the seller in 2023. Work performed in 2024 consisted of replacing the power steering rack, cooling fan, alternator, heater valve, brake fluid reservoir, accessory drive belts, fuel pump and pressure regulator, ball joints, front brake pads and rotors, and assorted ignition components. Powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Nimbus White over beige leather upholstery. It also has a limited-slip differential, a replacement tan soft top, 15″ five-spoke alloy wheels, power-adjustable seats, a cassette stereo, and cruise control. This XJ-S V12 shows 66k miles and is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
Jaguar commissioned Hess & Eisenhardt to convert XJ-S V12 coupes into convertibles between 1986 and 1988. This example is finished in Nimbus White and is equipped with a replacement tan soft top, quad headlights, front fog lights, chrome mirror caps, a power antenna, and dual exhaust outlets. An area of rust is present on the bottom section of the left quarter panel.
The 15″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 215/70 Toyo Extensa A/SII tires that show 2023 production codes. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs. The steering rack, brake fluid reservoir, front upper and lower ball joints, and front brake pads and rotors were replaced in early 2024, and the seller states that the front calipers were replaced at that time.
The cabin features power-adjustable seats upholstered in beige leather along with burl wood veneer accents on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior equipment includes a cassette stereo, and cruise control. A cell phone holder has been installed in the center dashboard vent. Replacement stitching is shown on the right-front seat bottom. The air conditioning is inoperative, and the center console trim is cracked.
A two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 66k miles, under 600 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. Service in 2024 included an oil change and replacing the alternator, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, cooling fan, throttle linkage mounting plate bushing, accessory drive belts, heater valve, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, ignition wires, filters, and one of the oil cooler hoses.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. A vacuum hose linked with the transmission modulator was replaced in February 2024.
Manufacturer’s literature. an introductory cassette tape, a cassette cleaner kit, and recent service records are included in the sale.
