Ebay item 8/12/14

Current bid US $2,137, no reserve, 4 bids 5 days left in auction. 72k miles.

Sellers description:
This 1984 Jaguar XJS has been sitting in my garage for the past five years and in my grandfathers garage for the twenty years before that. He was a Jaguar enthusiast and kept the car clean and well maintained, he would occasionally drive this car to church or a special occasion. The car has been just sitting in the back of my garage so I decided to take it out, freshen it up and pass it along to someone who would have more time to enjoy it then I do. After starting it up I heard the water pump bearing making some noise, so that got replaced along with new hoses, thermostats and belts, I also had the radiator flushed. Also replaced the spark plugs, transmission fluid and filter, and changed the engine oil. While the a/c compressor was out (to change plugs) I drained the oil, added R134a compatible oil and changed the receiver dryer.I left the air pump off after replacing water pump since emissions is not an issue on a car of this age. I started driving the car about a month ago, it starts right up every time, shifts great, rides nice and stops good. After about a hundred miles here are the things I noticed; the gas gauge reads correct about 90% of the time (i believe its the sending unit), their is a small leak from the trans selector shaft seal and the valve cover gaskets appear to leak a little (nothing that would need immediate attention), the climate control system works as it should but the a/c got weaker over time (leak in system). The tires hold air and ride well but the tread is getting low and they do have some age on them. The body is in very good shape the paint shines nice (its actually greener than the pictures show), their is a small dent behind the passenger door (tried to show in picture), when the car was up in the air I noticed some floor rust near front jacking points and along right side of the floor- I took some pictures of those areas, the rest of the undercarriage is in great shape. The interior is in excellent condition no rips, headliners not sagging, carpets are clean and the wood dash is not cracked, the original jaguar radio with removable face plate is still in it but their is a tape stuck in it. Although I don't drive the car when it rains I noticed the wiper switch is sensitive and you have shut them off at the right time to park them. I am setting the reserve rather low knowing that it needs these issues repaired.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
