Car returns to ebay 4/9/16 www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJS-XJS-/191840554194
Current bid US $1,000, no reserve, 8 bids 1 day left in auction. Seller tpadvsystems, 130k miles. Car now said to be in Jacksonville, Florida.
Sellers description:
Comes with new tires with less than 5,000 miles on them and Dayton wire rims that are in fair condition. Leather seats in rough, but usable condition. Includes after market Sony stereo. Needs paint, but is passable. Transmission leaks some, I was told by A1 transmission , it should have a soft rebuild, but it is drive able. No AC. Engine runs good, 3,000 rpm at 80 mph. Gets about 10 to 11 miles per gallon around town. Gets a lot of attention. People love this car It has an idle hunt problem that comes and goes when the car is in park, I have been told, that is caused by a vacuum leak somewhere. I recommend that you inspect this car before bidding or purchase. Cars tend to look better in pictures than real life. In addition: left tail pipe fell off, needs to be replaced. One of the mufflers, in the middle on the right side, was removed. Also, I believe the car was repainted on the driver's side. Although, there is no record of an accident. It has a new GM alternator and additional gauges to assist in monitoring the engine. Fuel gauge does not work, but the fuel light does. So, I just fill up when the light comes on. I believe it just needs a new sender. The instrument cluster is easy to remove. Driver's window needs a little assistance when being closed due to a bad window motor gear. Other issues: there is a small flaw in the windshield where a pebble or rock hit it. There is rust in two places at the bottom on the drivers side and trunk lip that needs repair. Someone, in the past, removed all the air pollution controls. The most important thing that needs to be fixed is the transmission. Replace or rebuild. There are kits available that allow the bolt in installation of a GM four speed transmission from a Camaro or Firebird. Jaguar XJS transmissions can be found on e-bay from $300 and up. Old Jaguars are a hand full, but loads of fun to work on, if you are up to the challenge. I have been using this car for a daily driver for over a year.
