Lot #191973
This 1983 Jaguar XJ-S coupe left the factory as a V12-powered example and was fitted with a Vortech-supercharged Chevrolet LT4 V8 and a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission as part of a project completed under previous ownership in 2001. The engine is equipped with a BBK/Edelbrock throttle body and manifold as well as an aluminum radiator with dual electric puller fans and a dual exhaust system with Magnaflow catalytic converters and mufflers. Repainted in red, the car features front and rear spoilers and rides on chrome-finished 16″ alloy wheels paired with Bilstein shocks at each corner. Inside, 2+2 seating trimmed in Biscuit leather is accompanied by a MOMO steering wheel as well as wood-veneer trim, automatic climate control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. Acquired by the seller in 2014, this modified XJ-S is now offered at no reserve with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Factory-finished in Cobalt Blue (JDM), the car was repainted red under previous ownership. It features quad headlights and dual front fog lights along with front and rear spoilers. The seller notes various paint chips around the body.
Later-model chrome-finished 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Advantage tires that are said to have been installed in December 2024. Bilstein shocks have been added, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs.
The 2+2 seats are upholstered in Biscuit leather (ADE), and burl wood veneer accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Appointments include a dash-mounted clock, a cassette stereo, automatic climate control, and cruise control. An Ungo box and Jacobs Opto-Timer are installed in the glovebox.
The three-spoke MOMO steering wheel is wrapped in leather and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. VDO gauges for boost and fuel pressure have been added to the left of the shifter along with an OBD1 engine check light and a radiator fan switch. The six-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added under current ownership.
The seller tells us that the Chevrolet Corvette–sourced LT4 V8 and 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission were installed by Autosport Performance of Escondido, California, as part of the aforementioned project completed in 2001. The engine is fitted with the following equipment:
Vortech V-1 supercharger and static fuel-pressure regulator
BBK/Edelbrock throttle body and manifold
Jacobs Electronics Pro Street Computer Ignition and Opto Timer turbo timer
Retrofitted Delco ECU
Aluminum radiator with dual electric puller fans
Dual exhaust system with Magnaflow catalytic converters and mufflers
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a custom driveshaft and a limited-slip differential.
