This 1989 Jaguar XJS convertible was purchased new from Terry York Motor Cars in Encino, California, and remained with its second owner from 1993 until the seller purchased it in a September 2017 BaT auction. The car is finished in Tungsten Metallic over Savile Grey leather and powered by a 5.3L V12 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Recent service performed by Champions Jaguar Service in Houston, Texas included ABS and cruise control repairs as well as new valve cover gaskets, tires, belts, suspension bushings, driveline fluids, and more. This XJS shows 42k miles and is offered with a clean Carfax, service records from 1993-present, owner's books, a window sticker, and a clean Texas title in the seller's name.
The body is finished in Tungsten Metallic, and no accidents or other damage are recorded in the provided Carfax. The 250+ image gallery below documents the condition of the paint, brightwork, and lower body in detail with many close-ups. Chrome Dayton wire wheels and a "leaper" hood ornament were reportedly period dealer add-ons, and the factory hood badge is included in the sale.
The blue fabric top features a heated glass rear window, and includes a cover for use when stowed. Five new 215/75 Michelin Defender AS tires were recently installed, previously noted ABS issues were resolved, and new front brake pads were fitted. The rear brake pads were replaced under previous ownership in 2011.
The cockpit is trimmed in Savile Grey leather with burl walnut accents and deep pile wool carpeting. Electrical equipment including the factory cassette radio, onboard computer, and clock are said to function along with the power windows, locks, and convertible top. The cruise control was repaired during recent service and the A/C compressor was rebuilt and converted to R134a refrigerant.
The 6-place odometer indicates approximately 42k miles, under 1,000 of which have been added during the seller's year of ownership.
The spare 5-spoke "starfish" wheel wears a new Michelin tire, and a fitted storage box contains tools, a jack, and a Jaguar-branded car cover.
The 5.3L HE V12 features aluminum construction and pairs with a GM 3-speed automatic transmission. Valve covers gaskets, driveline fluids, and accessory belts were replaced during a May 2018 service, and a $4,500 receipt from Houston-area independent specialist Champion Jaguar Service can be seen in the gallery below. A new battery was installed in 2017.
The ABS module and suspension bushings were replaced during recent service, as was the brake fluid. Additional pictures of the underside can be seen in the gallery below.
A binder of records includes service receipts since 1993, a logbook documenting fuel stops, and the original window sticker, which details standard equipment and a 1989 MSRP of $58k.
Owner's books are included as well as factory touch-up and stereo cleaning kits. A small collection of spares also accompanies the car.
The Carfax report documents an accident-free history from 1991-2014 in California and Texas.
