This particular XJS is the glamorous 4-litre convertible version that was launched in 1992. Looking great in Sapphire Blue with a cream hide interior piped in blue, it has been in the current ownership since 2003 with just four other keepers prior to that.
With some 105,000 miles under its wheels, it comes with a full service history comprising 12 stamps to date, the last less than 4,000 miles ago, plus a large file of bills to show regular careful maintenance. Supplied with all its original handbooks it is said to drive beautifully with an MOT until December and tax until the end of November.
AMENDMENT: This car has the later AJ16 (even better) engine, not the AJ6 engine as previously stated.

Car returns to auction 9/24

Auction description:
1995 Jaguar XJS 4.0 Convertible
Estimate: £5,000-7,000
Registration Number M695TDA
Engine Size 3980cc
Engine Number 9LPFRB100664
Chassis Number SAJJNAFD3EJ196462
Gearbox Automatic
Documents V5C; MOT Oct 2024 with no advisories; 21 old MOTs; many invoices; service book with 14 stamps
Just two owners in the last 21 years; excellent service history; recent new Mohair hood and respray; a cherished example of this classic sporting drop-top
Supplied new by Colliers of Sutton Coldfield in February 1995, this XJS 4.0 Convertible has covered 150k miles to date and comes with an excellent service history including 14 stamps in the book up to 108,489 miles in May 2014 when the book runs out of pages, most at Jaguar main agents, plus many supporting invoices.
Our vendor (the 6th owner) acquired the car via Brightwells in 2013 when it had been entered by a Jaguar Enthusiast Club member who had owned it for the previous 10 years. Also the owner of several other classics (including four other Jaguars), our vendor has continued to look after the XJS regardless of cost, with invoices for at least another five services plus a host of new parts and upgrades. That makes 19 services to date, giving an average service interval of 7,900 miles.
Recent new parts of note include: alternator in 2023; uprated aluminium radiator, rear brake discs and pads and ABS module in 2022; vented front brake discs, pads and calipers in 2021 when the car was also resprayed and given a new windscreen; upper and lower ball joints in 2020; Spax front shock absorbers and rear radius arm bushes in 2017; new blue Mohair hood in 2016 which cost £1,368 – you get the picture, this car has been loved!
Although he owns some far more exotic cars (both old and new) our vendor tells us that the XJS is invariably the one he jumps into when the weather is fine because it is such a pleasure to drive, especially with the hood down and the draught excluder up which keeps the cabin remarkably calm and snug.
In fact, it has covered some 45,000 miles in his 11-year ownership, including several European tours, and we are told that it has always proved totally reliable. It has an MOT until 16th October 2024 with no advisories recorded, and there are also over 20 old MOTs.
It looks exceptionally smart for its age and mileage, the only real blemish of note being the driver’s seat squab which has a split seam. On offer here at a modest guide price, it is only reluctantly for sale because the vendor has recently acquired yet another classic Jag from Brightwells and he doesn’t have space to store them all!
