Auction description:

18000 - 24000 EUR

Jaguar XJS V12 Coupé – 1991 - Lot 15

Châssis n° SAJJNAEW4EN181610

Carte grise française

French registration title

“A European XJS with low mileage and still with its service book!”

Our car is one of the very first to have undergone a number of changes: its rear lights match those of the second phase, but the V12 engine is still a 5.3-litre unit. The most important is its Le Mans chassis, a rare option with dual rear shock absorbers. As its warranty booklet indicates, it was delivered new to the Exclusiv Automobile dealership in Slegen, Germany, where it remained until 1997 before a short spell in Brussels. It arrived in France in April 2001 with a collector in Nancy, who passed it on to his son a few years later.

Today, the car is in a very good state of preservation, made possible by the special attention it has received over the past 10 years from its current owner. The paintwork is quite nice (it was redone a few years ago, but please note a small blister at the base of one of the wheel arches), and the interior is in very good condition with a lovely patina. Just over a year ago, major mechanical work was carried out, with the highlight being the replacement of the cylinder head gasket. With just under 140,000 km on the clock, this car is in very good working order.

European XJS V12s in such fine condition are rare on the market.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
