Car at auction 5/24
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2024-05-11/cars/ref-108-1987-jaguar-xjs-coup%C3%A9-53-litre-sb/

Auction description:
Farnborough International Exhibition Centre
Lot Number 138
Registration D121 ELN
Chassis Number JNAEW3BC136178
Engine Number 8S046722HA
Result Sold - £5,040
This 1987 registered example comes from a significant private collection and as such presents in good order. The red coachwork has clearly been very well looked after as has the beige leather trim. These long-legged grand tourers are comfortable and effortless to drive. This example is described as driving with no known faults and is supplied with some service history and a V5 document. Jaguar XJS’s are becoming increasingly rare and were regarded at the time as the flagship of the model range, good examples can only appreciate over time. Consigned by Stewart Banks

Car returns to auction 5/25

www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-148---1987-jaguar-xjs-coup-53-litre/

Auction description:

1987 Jaguar XJS 5.3

Estimate £9,000 - £12,000

Historics - Farnborough International, Farnborough, UK, 3 May, 2025

Lot 148

Registration: D121 ELN

Chassis No: JNAEW3BC136178

Engine No: 85046722HA

Mileage: 50,218

Only two previous keepers

Low mileage and well cared for

This 1987 manufactured example comes from a significant private collection and as such presents in good order. The red coachwork has clearly been very well looked after as has the beige leather trim. These long-legged grand tourers are comfortable and effortless to drive. The 5343cc V12 engine offers seemingly endless power, smooth delivery and reliability. This example is described as driving with no known faults and is supplied with some service history and a V5 registration document, together with an MoT test certificate valid until 23rd February 2026 (with no advisories). Having had only two previous keepers from new, this is an unmolested Jaguar with unmarked coachwork and an interior commensurate with such low mileage and little use. Jaguar XJS’s are becoming increasingly rare and were regarded at the time as the flagship of the model range, good examples such as this can only appreciate over time. Consigned by Stewart Banks

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
