    Ebay item 5/20/18
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XJS-Cabriolet-1987-LPG-conversion-close-to-40-mpg-equivalent- ...
Car has a buy it now price of £5,995 for 8 days, seller andrewkid, 149k miles.

    Sellers description:
my much cherished XJS Cabriolet, which I have driven as my daily drive for the last 3 years. I had it converted to LPG, so that I can get around 40 mpg equivalent. I also went through everything three years ago, to make sure that it would be reliable and it has never let me down. The LPG Conversion was done by a reputable firm (invoices available) and cost £2,000.

There is some much to list about what I have serviced, changed, paid attention to - however the big things are this - firstly the body is really good for its age, I doubt you will find a better example! - and essential part when looking at these classics - secondly, I had the gearbox done, all bearings, brakes, suspension bushes, springs all round, the engine has done 149,000 miles, whilst I have done all the hoses, ancillaries, I have not restored the engine - it still pulls brilliantly and uses no oil. I have installed a good stereo, gone through all the cooling system, tyres were new three years ago, so probably have about 3 mm left, the proper typres for this model, and all dampers were renewed.

The number plate is not included in the sale.

If you are after a cheap to run classic, this is it, and open air motoring for a bargain price.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
